The trap of proprietary Intellectual Property

So, you decided to outsource and your vendor lured you with speed to market using proprietary intellectual property.
You have fallen in a trap!

Here is how the vendor gained
a) He charged you for the IP
b) He ensured that the trap is laid. Once you use the IP, you would have to remain with the vendor for all enhancements and support for the IP

What better could you have done! Embraced Open Source

With over 10000 projects on Source Forge and other places, there should be no reason why one should opt for proprietary intellectual property. There is an open source alternative always available - tried, tested, does not tie you down, developers are always available, reduces your total cost of ownership

If you still opt for proprietary intellectual property, you have deep pockets and a huge heart! :)
