Open Source - Still not embraced it?

Like a young and beautiful damsel, open source software is the center of attraction for everyone these days. From contempt to suspicion to let-me-try-it-as-well to business competitiveness, open source has turned a corner. Days are not far when venture capitalists would demand for an open source strategy from budding enterpreneurs like the way they are asking for an India-China strategy these days.
If a business has still not embraced open source, here are some of the reasons why it should do so, before it loses the edge over its competitors

  1. Cost effective over commercial licenses
  2. Reduces time to market
  3. Prevents vendor-lockin
  4. Tried and tested over proprietary intellectual property
  5. Huge availability of expert resources
  6. Promotes reuse
  7. Increases interoperability
